Do It by Tuxedo
“Mayer Hawthorne joyfully played with the building blocks of 60's R&B on his first two records. His last one went in a pretty original direction, but it wouldn't be wrong to compare aspects of it to dirty (but joyful!) 70's funk. Nobody, then, should really be surprised to see him move towards smooth (but very, very fun) 80's jams like Hall and Oates. Tuxedo is a project with producer Jake One (new to me), so I don't know exactly who's responsible for what, but this record is amazing. (I don't mean to reduce this to "lazy 80's revivalism", but if that's what moves you, it'd be a shame to miss out on it.)”

Mayer Hawthorne's collaboration with Jake One, back on Stone's Throw Records. I like the way that sounds.
