i know i'm eleven centuries late to the VAMPIRE WEEKEND ticker tape parade but they've been doing some rad shit for years. maybe it's because i listened to all three albums in quick succession instead of like, waiting years between them that i dig on the way they fit together so much. my favorite overall might be "taxi cab" and my favorite off modern vampires of the city might be "finger back" but i gotta give it up to "don't lie" because i was looking at the tracklist after listening through the album like six times and for whatever reason i could not remember that "don't lie" had existed, so i was just like, "whatever, some songs on albums just aren't standouts, i guess 'don't lie' is just the least great song on a great album," but then i actually listened to it the next time i listened through the album and had to concede that BOY HOWDY WAS I WRONG, "DON'T LIE" IS DOPE AS HELL. "old flames, they can't warm you tonight" is a ;) line, like, "hehe check this flow :)" & i dig it
