I'm sure we all remember Yellowcard. Ocean Avenue was the soundtrack to every 14 year old's summer fling. Past that, Yellowcard faded out for me. They had the violin aspect which was original but for the most part, they were another whiny crap pop punk band in the veins of Fall out Boy and and Good Charlotte. Here today, gone tomorrow. Then they released Southern Air at the end of 2012. And let me tell you how wrong I was. The album is pretty decent finding a great balance between light hearted and fun pop punk melodies (still with that distinct fiddle twang) and far more mature lyrics and subject matter. In essence: this album is about growing up and realizing life isn't always what you expect it to be. That being said, I introduce you to Ocean Avenue 2012. Awakening is the opening track on the album and is very reminiscent to the catchy fun of their earlier tune while still retaining a more mature feel and overall sound. This is your mid 20's #breakupanthem - listen and love.
