Hurtling around the North Wales coast today, passionately promoting the benefits of working 'digitally' to large numbers of strangers bought back all sorts of memories. Not least this amazing record of which I listened to 4 times in total. #2013
Took a while to give in to Wondrous Bughouse. Had to clear my head off from all the exaggerated blatherings. For a few friends, this is already album of the year. I guess I needed more time to scrutinize it closely. Last time I checked, hyped Grimes was the album doomed to be soon-forgotten. Nothing from that record sticks with me. Almost the same goes to Youth Lagoon's TYoH. But this sophomore is much more elaborate with ecstatic textured solos and multi-segment song structures. Let alone the crooning melancholic lyrics and the abundance of vibrant melodies. "Raspberry Cane" is my pick from the album with "Attic Doctor" a close second. An epic pivotal song explosion at 1:24 and an ethereal summit on 4:13. This is Trevor Powers at his most accomplished for sure.
If you enjoyed this, don't miss out the video here http://bit.ly/1czclAt with slow encounters of monsters by us human beings.
