I think I need yet more cheering Motown! One week isn't enough...perhaps it will be Cheering Motown Month.

I've got sunshine on a cloudy day. When it's cold outside I've got the month of May.

On Sunday we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the immortal Temptations classic "My Girl." Today I celebrate it in my column. Read. Like. Share. Thanks. http://popdose.com/soul-serenade-the-temptations-my-girl-at-50/   1

50 years ago today, the Temptations hit #1 with "My Girl" - a classic, every bit as brilliant today as it was then!

"My Girl" is a 1964 standard recorded by The Temptations for the Gordy (Motown) label which became a number one hit in 1965. Written and produced by The Miracles members Smokey Robinson and Ronald White, the song became the Temptations' first U.S. number-one single, and is today their signature song. Musically, the song is notable because the six ascending guitar notes in the opening riff over the C chord are a perfect example of a C major pentatonic scale, played exactly from octave to octave. Similarly, the analogous riff in the song that is played over the F chord is a perfect example of an F major pentatonic scale, also with notes ascending from octave to octave. Having said all that, we just knew that when we heard those opening notes back in the days of The Twisted Wheel, that a little bit of magic was about to start. #hopeyoulikeit #KTF   11
