Off to see Kings of Leon live tonight for the first time since we originally saw them back in the Fall of 2008. It's hard to believe that was almost six years ago. At the time, they were just beginning to arc on their rise to stardom in the US. For a fan who bought their debut album on the day it was released, it's been interesting to watch their career go through a cycle of obscurity, stardom, decline & resurgence. Kicking off my day of KOL with the song that hooked me originally so many years ago.
This week, I am also pining for the edgier, less polished Kings of Leon of yesteryear....

It's hard to believe, but Youth & Young Manhood was released (in the US, at least) 10 years ago today. I remember reading about this up & coming "southern Strokes" band, hearing this single & rushing out the week of it's release to snatch it up. As the first person I knew to listen to the band, it's been kind of strange to see their arc through fame & adoption by the musical mainstream over the last decade. Regardless of their missteps along the way & what their detractors say, I'm still a fan & can't wait for their new album.
