I take it that you got to finally see the movie then? I thought it was an amazing story (almost unbelievable) and then as it happens he toured NZ a couple of months back and so got to see him play live as well! So lucky! He is such a humble man and a wonderful song writer. He did look very frail though from all his labouring work over the years and had to be escorted on and off the stage. Such a shame that he didn't get the fame or acknowledgment for his music until quite recently.
@cyberspiel I did see the movie, such an interesting story from a talented muscian so gentle and kind. I am happy that you were able to see him on stage, it would have been a true loss to not know of him and his fine music.

Saw the movie. Saw the man live. Truly inspirational stuff. I have relatives in SA who were amazed that nobody outside of that country (except maybe Oz) had ever heard of him

@simonp I believe he first sang his songs in the 70's and Sussex Records dropped him after the lack of interest...foolish, foolish!
