It is a sort of cliche now I suppose, but it is hard to overestimate how good this song is. A near perfect collection of parts becomes so much more as a whole. I love Gerry Rafferty and would urge anyone to seek out a 'Best Of' he is one of the best songwriters of his age and a voice so pure it makers you shiver!
As with @christineb and @21schizoid, this just takes me back to 70s summers (see also Genesis' "Follow you follow me" and Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" - even though it came out in January)

Is there a better sax solo on a song? Maybe FM by Steely Dan but it's certainly up near the top
