Terrific version, which I heard before the original. Have it on 7inch with the glorious "Stomp" on the othe side.

I might actually like this better than the original.

@Mercurywaxing Shuggie is great but this certainly adds something to the original.

In 1977 when the Brothers Johnson cover came out, i'd only heard of Shuggie Otis because he's listed on Bros Johnson album as the composer. Maybe b/c I was too young, but mostly b/c Shuggie, criminally, didn't make a big splash when Strawberry Letter was released in 1971 (Inspiration Information wasn't a big hit either). I became aware of Shuggie years later, but when I was in High School, Brothers Johnson were mega stars in the US!

I think I remember it also being on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. Great warbly bass line

@iMatthew_ This reached lower end of top 40 in UK.Before that,I'll Be Good To You had been a radio hit bit Stomp was to reach no 6.I only discovered Shuggie Otis via David Byrne's reissues.

@MrBeeWak - I stand corrected. It was Jackie Brown. I haven't seen either in a long time.
